The Blair County Tax Collection Bureau was formed out of the Act 32 of 2008 which mandates the consolidation of earned income tax collectors down to one county-wide collector.
The Blair County Tax Collection Bureau is committed to serving all of the municipalities, school districts, taxpayers and employers of Blair County in the most efficient and economical manner possible.
Our office is located in the City Hall Building in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
The Bureau will administer and enforce, with accuracy and integrity, the highest quality of tax collection while serving the public, abiding by state and local laws, and promoting awareness of local tax laws within the community it serves.
Act 32 of 2008, which became effective Jan 1, 2012 reformed the local earned income tax withholding system and established countywide tax collection districts for the remittance and distribution of local earned income taxes.
Every business that employs individuals at worksites within Pennsylvania, or employs individuals who work from their home in Pennsylvania, is required to withhold the applicable local earned income tax amount from employees' wages and remit the tax to the appropriate tax office.
The Blair County Tax Collection Bureau is the designated collector for the Blair County Taxing District.
